About the Event

For cyclists, we tend to have our usual rides during the week and weekends, but Holidays offer us a break from the routine. Thus, we have created the COUREUR HOLIDAY RIDES… time for creative disruption.

Each Holiday, here in San Diego, there will be an opportunity to eschew the usual and enjoy something different with lots of interesting, bike-minded folks. The COUREUR HOLIDAY RIDES will take riders along anything but the usual, traveling through beautiful stretches, along roads and trails, which we don’t get to enjoy on the usual group rides. Each Holiday brings a chance for something strange…

The COUREUR HOLIDAY RIDES will be something for everyone; we will ride together until such a time that it becomes appropriate for the groups to separate. Rides will have regroups.

Some rides may feature dirt, or lots of it, and others none at all. In any event there will be a route perfectly manageable on a road bike. There may be special rides where we enjoy extra amount of dirt time and challenges, and riders will be warned in advance, in case they want to ride a different, more dirt friendly bike.

COUREUR HOLIDAY RIDES are to be enjoyed by riders of all stripes. They will be inclusive, offering some riders the chance to hammer at the front and others the chance to purely enjoy a unique route without the worry of having to go too hard. It’s time to disrupt the usual with some creative fun, don’t you think?

These rides will be supported by COUREUR CYCLING TEAM and partners like Canyon Bicycles, Spinergy, Velotown, Olli, Eliel, Mando, Leucadia Cyclery, The WrenchHouse, Rouleur Brewing Company, Lost Abbey, Hammer Nutrition, and others.

This version of the COUREUR HOLIDAY RIDE be held MONDAY JULY 5 and will begin and end at Velotown USA 190 N Coast Hwy 101, Encinitas, CA 92024

"Where is Velotown?" you ask. Imagine, if you will, an inclusive place that is so inclusive there will be a cafe (@Queenstage), a Hamburger and Beer pub (@hamburger_hut), a sushi bar (@ryoshi_sushi), and Velotown, a bike shop like no other with a fitting studio, physical therapy studio, high-end bike boutique and apparel showrooms. Opening July 1, this Holiday ride will be the first of many from this new bike oasis.

To satisfy the heartiest of appetites we NOW HAVE TWO rad routes to choose from; a BWR-inspired ride with lots of fast road punctuated by leg sapping dirt sectors and an all-road SmashFest for the road-racers among you.

HAMMER will provide the nutrition for the en route aid stops, hosted by ALMSTHRE, who by-the-way will be doing a giveaway of their rad bags.

When you return from your soul-satisfying travails you may freely (read FREE BEER) imbibe from lots of taps of Lost Abbey’s regular and seasonal releases and we will also have a curated collection of pours from other breweries we are friends with.

Hamburger Hut will be grilling gourmet burgers made with top-quality ingredients like Leucadia has never seen before.
